The European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), the biggest event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy and the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), will be back also in 2025. The Commission announced that the overarching theme of this year will be “Powering a fair and competitive green transition”.

Scheduled from the 10th to the 12th of June 2025 in Brussels in a hybrid version, in presence and online, the 19th edition of EUSEW—and the first under the second von der Leyen Commission mandate—will focus on the main energy priorities of the new Commission. As part of the EUSEW tradition to co-create the conference programme with the clean energy community, the Commission has also opened calls for proposals for policy sessions, nominations in the different categories for the prestigious EUSEW Awards, and other aspects of this year’s events.

The call for policy session proposals is open until the 23rd of January 2025. Industry representatives, policy experts, members of civil society, and academia are invited to shape the event and contribute with their insights and expertise to the discussions on sustainable energy. EUSEW 2025 will also award outstanding individuals and projects for their innovation and efforts in the field of energy efficiency and renewables in three categories: Innovation, Local Energy Action, and Woman in Energy. Applications for the EUSEW Awards are open until the 30th of January 2025.

Other opportunities to be part of the EU Sustainable Energy Week such as becoming an exhibitor at the Energy Fair, a Young Energy Ambassador, or organising a local Sustainable Energy Day will become available during January and February 2025. A timeline, Q&A, and an info session recording are available on the EUSEW 2025 info page.

“Energy policy is at the core of almost all the important challenges we face today”, stated Dan Jørgensen, EU Commissioner for Energy and Housing. “It is critical for Europe’s competitiveness, security, and jobs, but also to accelerate the green transition and the fight against climate change. For this, we need to step up investments, in particular in clean energy and technologies, which will be a key factor in bringing down energy prices and fully ending Russian fossil fuel imports, while engaging on a just transition path. This is vital for our businesses, facing competition from outside the EU, and for households, facing problems with the cost of living. This is why, already within the first 100 days in office, this Commission will present the Clean Industrial Deal, including an Action Plan for affordable energy, which we are currently preparing. I am looking forward to discussing these initiatives with the European clean energy community at the EU Sustainable Energy Week in June.”
