This year, the transition has reached a mature phase, with an increasing number of events bringing together businesses, research institutions, and policymakers to devise effective, innovative solutions to drive economic growth, meet sustainability targets, and tackle climate change. We have selected 21 events that should not be missed and that Renewable Matter will follow, in many cases actively participating in them.

January

The year kicks off with Klimahouse, an event focused on sustainable construction. The 20th edition of this international fair on responsible building and energy efficiency will take place from the 29th of January to the 1st of February at Fiera Bolzano. Highlights include the Klimahouse Congress, which will delve into inspiring and innovative architectural projects centred on urban regeneration, and the 2025 Wood Architecture Prize by Klimahouse.

February

From the 3rd to the 24th of February, Conversations on Governance will take centre stage — a series of online meetings focusing on the G from ESG organised by Koinetica, Italy's first organisation dedicated exclusively to corporate social responsibility communication since its founding in 2002. Rossella Sobrero will engage with experts to explore how governance is communicated within organisations and valued externally, focusing on its role in achieving corporate sustainability goals.

Meanwhile, from the 19th to the 21st of February, MyPlant&Garden: Big Green Bang will transform Rho Fiera Milano into a celebration of greenery. This professional event, dedicated to horticulture, gardening, and landscaping — of which Renewable Matter is a media partner — is the only event showcasing the entire gardening industry, through its nine macro-sectors and an emphasis on technological innovations for a more sustainable supply chain.

March

This spring, Key - The Energy Transition Expo, Italy's flagship event on energy transition and efficiency, will take place in Rimini from the 5th to the 7th of March. The event is a key reference point for Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean basin. Renewable Matter will play an active role, moderating two sessions: one addressing financing instruments for the energy transition and the other exploring the crucial role of the circular economy in ensuring its success.

April

Next, we fly to the southern hemisphere, where Brazil will host the World Circular Economy Forum from the 13th to the 16th of April. The event brings together business leaders, policymakers, and experts — taking part from all over the world — to showcase the world's leading circular economy solutions. A flagship event that analyses circular economy approaches that enable businesses to seize new opportunities, gain a competitive edge, and contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Turning to North America, the Circularity conference will take place from the 29th of April to the 1st of May in Denver, Colorado. The event, where Renewable Matter is once again a media partner, is the leading gathering of professionals promoting circular economy solutions. Focused on accelerating systems change, Circularity enables participants to rethink the entire product supply chain to build a fair, resilient, and regenerative economy. Readers of Renewable Matter are offered a 10% discount using the code C25RM. For more information and registration, please visit the official website.

May

We are coming back to Italy on the 6th and 7th of May because Riva del Garda will host Rebuild, an event focused on sustainable innovation in the built environment, with Renewable Matter as a media partner. The theme of the 2025 edition, “Connect minds, enable innovation”, focuses on the challenge of integrating human and technological intelligence to drive sustainable innovation, accelerating both knowledge and practices.

June

This summer, the Riverberi Festival organised by TerraLAB will be back: a day to spread awareness and, like an echo, instill change. Renewable Matter will take part as a speaker in various panels and will be a media partner of the event, which will be held on the 22nd of June in Milan.

August

To escape the mid-August heat, we travel to Stockholm, where the world conference on water, the World Water Week, will be held from the 24th to the 28th of August. This year's theme is “Water for Climate”, a topic that Renewable Matter is following closely through its thematic channel and newsletter The Water Observer. It will be possible to attend the event also online.

September

We are looking forward to the autumn season with an agenda full of events, starting with the forum organised in Cernobbio by The European House Ambrosetti, a geopolitical economics think tank. From the 5th to the 7th of September, three days focused on “Today's and tomorrow's scenarios for competitive strategies”, which will be attended by high-level speakers from the political, academic, institutional, and entrepreneurial world from all over the world.

Next, we travel to Germany, to Cologne, where from the 22nd to the 24th of September Renewable Materials will take place, focusing on the future of the chemical industry and sustainable materials, including recycling, biomass, and CO₂. Registration is already open with discounts for early birds.

Finally, the IFIB – International Forum on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioeconomy will be held in Turin on the 25th and 26th, with a programme still to be defined, but with the certainty that also this year Renewable Matter will be the event's media partner.

October

This month is focused on CSR with the Salone della CSR e dell’innovazione sociale (CSR and social innovation fair), the flagship event for companies now in its 13th edition. This year's theme will be “Creating Valuable Futures”, the location is always the Bocconi University of Milan, and Renewable Matter will take part as a media partner and moderator. It will take place from the 8th to the 10th of October.

November

As every year, Ecomondo – The Green Technology Expo will be back. Since 1997 a key meeting point for the green and circular economy, bringing together industries, stakeholders, policymakers, opinion leaders, and the research and institutional fields. The event puts in place the key elements that define the strategies for the development of EU environmental policy. Also this year Renewable Matter has renewed its media partnership with the event, which will take place from the 4th to the 7th of November in Rimini. The agenda will soon be available online.

Simultaneously, from the 4th to the 6th of November, the Smart City Expo World Congress will be held in Barcelona. Following last year's success, the event that brings together companies, governments, and organisations to move cities towards a better future is back, to collectivise urban innovation worldwide and give cities the tools to tackle the critical challenges they face today.

And to end the year, we would like to mention the European Bioplastic Conference, which brings together the players in the bioplastics industry with the task of creating and strengthening a favourable political environment in the European Union so that bio-based, biodegradable, and compostable plastics can increasingly become major players in the current economic scenario.
