On Tuesday 3 December, Culligan, the American world leader in water filtration systems, celebrated the inauguration of its new Italian headquarters in Bologna, marking a significant step in its development strategy. After more than 60 years of presence at the Cadriano plant in Granarolo, the new headquarters is a strategic hub, operating in synergy with the bottling centres located in Italy, such as those in Corsico (MI) and Fossombrone (PU), in addition to the 58 warehouses distributed throughout the country. The Bologna office will not only manage operations for more than 1,000 employees in Italy, but will also house more than 400 professionals dedicated to after-sales service and customer care.
Culligan's new headquarters strengthen the group's presence in Italy
In 2023, Culligan recorded a turnover of 220 million euros in Italy, an increase of 10% compared to the previous year. In a press release, the company announces that it wants to further strengthen its distribution network, reinforcing its presence in the market through different channels and an increasingly widespread distribution. “Culligan's new location represents an important step for our expansion in Italy, where the demand for solutions to improve water and reduce environmental impact is increasing” says Giulio Giampieri, president of Culligan Italia.
“From 2021 to 2024, the use of home filtration systems almost doubled from 19% to 38.6%, a sign of increased consumer awareness. However, Italy is still the second country in the world, after Mexico, for consumption of plastic bottled water. This motivates us to intensify our efforts to promote more sustainable behaviour. We feel a strong responsibility towards the community and we work to offer solutions that not only meet the needs of customers, but also promote a more environmentally friendly lifestyle”.
Culligan's growth in Italy and global rebranding
In recent years, Culligan has consolidated its growth path in Italy, reinforced by the integration of several subsidiaries - including ThinkWater and MGM (under the Zereau brand) - the merger with Waterlogic, and the European operations of Primo Eden. These developments have enabled the company to become a major player in the field of water quality improvement products and services by investing in research and development.
In 2024, this growth will be complemented by a global rebranding and the divestment of the Commercial & Industrial division in Italy, France and the UK, allowing Culligan to focus its resources on the household, office and HoReCa market. The company aims to promote a transformation in water consumption habits at home, work and leisure, with a sustainable approach focused on reducing single-use plastic. Culligan's product range includes solutions to improve drinking water, such as under-sink filtration systems, water coolers, multi-function faucets, and mains water dispensers, as well as softening systems that improve the energy efficiency of household appliances.
